there's a way to know. polling with some statistical analysis. not the easiest task, but not impossible by any stretch.
i think what this question is missing is WHY exjws who become atheists..become atheists.
there's a lot of misconceptions as far as why some go this route. it's not always a simple matter of bitterness as it seems it's being portrayed here.
from my own personal experience, years after leaving i most certainly wasn't an atheist. it was a rocky relationship with god to say the least, but still...i believed.
it wasn't until i started studying probability and statistics that i felt free of the belief of god.
entire family, 20 others die in fatal accidenttragedy struck weekend in akwa ibom state as a man, his wife and all their children, as well as more than 20 others, all members of the jehovahs witness church, perished in a fatal road accident which occurred, friday, along the utu etim ekpo road in etim ekpo local government area of the state.. forty other members of the church sustained varying degrees of injuries following in the crash which occurred on their way to the jehovahs witness annual convention ground in ikot ekpene local government area of the state.. thisdays gathered that more than 70 members of the church had hired a lorry to convey them from ukanafun local government area to ikot ekpene for the annual district convention which began on friday and billed to end today (sunday) but the journey ended half way with many members of the church dying on the road in the accident.. eyewitnesses alleged that the driver of the lorry conveying the church members to the venue of the convention lost control of the vehicle when he got to utu etim ekpo, the junction opposite the local government secretariat, and hit the stone used to construct the roundabout, thus resulting in the lorry somersaulting, leaving many of its passengers and others wounded.. the corpses and those injured in the accident were said to have been taken to neighbouring hospitals and mortuaries.. one of the eyewitnesses, mr. friday john, said the people who died may have been more than what was seen because a whole family including parents and their children were all trapped in the accident.. we were all here discussing when suddenly the lorry appeared and was looking like the driver had lost control of it.
then the lorry drove straight and hit the stone and somersaulted into the gutter.. many people died, more than 18. in fact, we couldnt count the number because there were many corpses, including husband, wife and children and they were all taken to the mortuary in various hospitals near etim ekpo here, john explained.. in another narration, a secondary school teacher in eka uruk eshiet etim ekpo, mr. ndipmo nkanta, said the lorry boarded by the deceased and the injured passengers was not meant for passengers but goods only.. he blamed the accident on poverty , arguing that if there was a better alternative, such casualties wouldnt have been recorded, especially as they were going to worship god.. the public relations officer of the federal road safety corps, frsc, in the state, mr. godsgift uwen, blamed the incident on over-speeding and overloading by the driver of the lorry.. he said the lorry was not supposed to carry any passenger as it was a meant for goods only but the driver stubbornly used it as a passengers vehicle, which led to the sad incident.. he advised against rush and drunken driving, especially in the yuletide, noting that these are some of the major causes of accidents on the roads..
sad to hear. these people were faithful enough to risk their lives in order to go wherever they believed god told them to go.
they deserved better than the bullshit they got from the wtbt$ who, as others have mentioned, will exploit their deaths for their own selfish purposes.

it's too bad there's no way to string up the lying pigs on the gb and the compllicit, enabling assmunchers in legal, service, writing and wherever else and send them to prison for life. in the very same manner that many who leave are trapped, at least for some time, in a mental prison. or, since we are talking the bible, a life for a life scenario seems reasonable if that's what their god commands...
we know that the watchtower claims to be seeking accurate truth regarding biblical propheicies regarding the last days and the willd beast and the "world that is laying in the power of the wicked one".. the watchtower inisists it is the faithful and discreet slave who is providing needed spiritual food at the proper time.
however on close examination, is this really the case ?
or is the watchtower, like all other western corporate organizations in the modern western world, simply distracting, subverting, and hiding the truth from thier christian sheep ?.

i sincerely hope that in 2014, a mass exodus occcurs, or at least the media or southpark gives them a ton of shit to the point where they stop disturbing kids watching saturday morning cartoons while chomping their way to a sugar coma as god intended for the sabbath.
I remember expressing some doubts, and my dad said: "son you need to prove the truth to yourself", the problem is, is anyone really going to do that the age of 15 when the only resource available to you is self referencing dogma?

i had some atheist leanings early on at one point, but then i looked around and thought to myself that for some reason, a lot of people believe in some sort of god. they can't all be wrong...right? coupled with a little pascal's wager and there ya go...
toss in the guilt tripping for not studying and reading the rags and you have a recipe for indoctrination.
The evidence and understanding (and Christ most importantly) in my life show me that it IS true.

Hades, things we once thought not to exist because we had no 'evidence' for them, are now known TO exist. Because our tools caught up with what is actually there. Not our physical senses, but our tools that we make to enhance our senses.
But not being able to measure them did not mean that they did not exist.
